Cleveland Heights police Deputy Chief Brad Sudyk said Monday morning the woman who died Sunday had been arrested but said he couldn’t confirm details of why she was in jail or how she died. He said police in the suburb east of Cleveland wouldn’t be releasing more information about what happened until later Monday.
The Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office identified the woman as Ralkina Jones of Cleveland. An autopsy was planned. It was the second Ohio jail death in as many weeks. The state is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate found hanging in a Brown County jail last week.
The body of 37-year-old Ralkina Jones, who family say was arrested Friday after a fight with her husband at his workplace, was recovered on Sunday. According to the medical examiner’s office, the death does not appear to be suspicious. The autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
